EAST COAST QUARTER HORSE CIRCUIT

UK's First Superhorse! Oh Miss Rodder

The Horse shows took the step this year of introducing the inaugural Superhorse Award.
The East Coast Quarter Horse Circuit is an independent organisation set up in 1994 to
promote the Quarter Horse by increasing the number of AQHA Shows in the UK -
www.eastcoastcircuit.net. This show is one of the most popular shows in the UK,
not least because of the Circuit Awards that are presented at the end of Show 4.

This years Superhorse award (as with all the other circuit awards) ran over the two
circuits (four shows) held in June and September at Unex Towerlands in Braintree,
Essex and was aimed to celebrate and reward those horses that competed consistently
throughout the circuits through all Divisions.

The award was sponsored by Don Fechner of the Western Boot and Saddle Company, this
company is dedicated to bringing customers in the UK the best quality Western riding
products from saddles to hats, boots to buckles, both with online shop
www.bootsandsaddlescompany.co.uk and trade stands at shows throughout the summer.

The Western Boot and Saddle Company offered to the winner of the Superhorse award,
a magnificent McMillan bronze trophy, special Champion rug and a Superhorse Sash.

The first ever winner of this prestigious award, the first of its kind in the UK, was Sheila
Fitzpatrick's Oh Miss Rodder. A 1998 Bay Mare bred by Tom Chown of Willowtree Farms,
Pilot Point, Texas.

Out of Oh Me Too and a daughter of Radical Rodder. Oh Miss Rodder was originally
imported into the UK by Jennifer Kersey and then purchased and trained by Oakridge
Quarter Horses.

AQHA records show that she was very successful in Junior Western Pleasure classes
as a three year old, in the UK and then towards the end of 2004 she was shown in Ontario
by Stacy Alford, culminating in showing at Congress in Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle.

On her return to the UK, Oh Miss Rodder completed her Open Register of Merit and in 2005
was competed by Becky Pocock of Oakridge Quarter Horses in Amateur and Novice
Amateur competitions, earning the 2005 Amateur High Point International Hunt Seat Equitation
Award as well as winning many Novice Amateur High Point Awards.

Over the winter of 2005/2006 Sheila Fitzpatrick, who has been very involved in the promotion
and breeding of the Quarter Horse in the UK for many years, purchased Oh Miss Rodder and
with help from Tanya Rowe in 2006 has been incredibly consistent at all of the UK Shows.

To win the East Coast Superhorse Award, Oh Miss Rodder and Sheila won and were placed
in the following Amateur and Novice Amateur Classes, Showmanship, Horsemanship, Western
Pleasure, Hunt Seat Equitation and Hunter Under Saddle.

To make this award even more special, it should be pointed out that Sheila Fitzpatrick is
actually over 70 years young. Dedicated to the Quarter Horse in the UK, she breeds a small
amount of mares each year under the Arabis prefix and is a smiling face at the shows.
Sheila keeps threatening each year to retire from the show pen, but with a horse like
Oh Miss Rodder and achieving all they have this year, one suspects we'll be seeing both
of them for many years to come.

Well done to Sheila and Oh Miss Rodder, 2006 East Coast Circuit Super Horse Champions.
